“You have to keep it simple. Sit down and plan it out based on the branding, what the message is that you want to give your target market, and how you will win their attention.  I would also highly recommend that you hire a professional photographer for the photos of the website, or you can get someone like a family member or friend with a good camera to take proper photos of you and your staff.  Ultimately, people buy from people. They want to relate with you before they buy from you. Nobody relates to stock images, because it’s these perfect models and none of our lives are perfect. Win your clients’ attention by telling them exactly what you do within the first 5 seconds. Then break down your product or service in a package format. Everybody wants to know: what does it cost, how long will it take, what is in it for me?  Its important to stick to these principles.”

“What you’ve got to include, is what I said about the packages, that’s really important. You want to take the service or product and break it down in a way that the client can really understand. This is to show them what they can expect should, they continue with your business.

Then, what you want to include is an ‘About Us’ page.

So the ‘Home Page’ is the main landing page of your website. That’s where people are going to land when they click on a link or click on an ad that goes to your website.

The second page is the ‘About Us’ page. People want to know who you are. As a matter of fact, a lot of people, when they’re interested in your product or service, go to the ‘About Us’ page before they buy or complete the application form.

The third page that you want is your Service or Product page. Break down the packages to bite-sized packages so people understand: how much will this cost?, how long does it take?, what’s in it for me?

Then there is the ‘Contact’ page – that’s very important. Give clients a point of reference where they can go to make contact with you. Each website must have an application form, contact details, and it’s always a good idea to put your address, with a landline number, to make it easy for people who want to know if you really exist.”

“I think you can go about it in two ways. Personally, I was never an IT person, but I taught myself how to build a website, because there are tools available.  You have YouTube, and that’s basically going to tell you how to do anything you want to do. Then there are free tools, something like WordPress. If you get a domain registration at Xneelo or a similar hosting company, you can sometimes get a free WordPress application that allows you to build websites for free. You can always go to Company Partners, because they also have a marketing department to build websites and assist with branding on your behalf. If you really don’t know what you’re doing, then rather get a professional.  Remember that you need to do the planning. It’s not the brand developer’s job to build your website. You need to go to the brand developer and tell them exactly what you want, because it’s your business and that’s your responsibility.”

In Summary

Building a Professional business website is so important. It helps to build reputability. It’s also a good idea to get a professional like Company Partners to help you set this up. In our next Session (Step #7), we will cover more aspects on: How to Launch a Marketing Campaign for Your Business. See you there!
